On my way home from shopping today, I swung by the Canopy Grill for dinner and to hear Kevin Dooley, a local musician, play. Here is Kevin on the right, with Andy Langford accompanying him on Dobro.

Thanksgiving

I went over to Tara and Jason's today for Thanksgiving. I decided to make a figgy pudding, partly because I'd never had any before and it seemed like something I'd like. I started with one pound of figs:


Then I chopped them up:


Added the other ingredients:


Et voila!

First round of Christmas shopping is done!

Every year at work I volunteer to be a "Santa's helper" for Family-to-Family, a charity that buys Christmas presents for underprivileged families. Normally, this job entails buying one or two gifts with money that was donated to the charity. This year there was a shortage of Santa's helpers, so I bought gifts for an entire family -- seventeen in all! I spent half of Saturday shopping, and a few hours tonight shopping and wrapping presents.

Liebermonster

Last night I saw Liebermonster play for the first time with their new drummer, my friend Josh. They play "funk fusion" with a lineup of keyboards, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, bass, and drums, and are now my favorite local band.


I can't wait to hear them play again!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Saturday night I went to see Choosing June at their CD release party at the Rock N Soul Cafe. Choosing June is a two-woman duo, one of whom, Joan, is the wife of Andy. Here they are with their backing band:



This morning, I went with Sara and Rich to see Acoustic Harmony at the Dragonfly again.


Rich just got back from a two-week vacation in Fiji.

Sunday morning
